Wine Review: This opaque and dark ruby colored Tempranillo from Alejandro Fernandez is a nicely aged Old World styled wine. It opens with a musty red cherry and oak bouquet. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied, balanced and smooth. The flavor profile is an old oak influenced plum with hints of red cherry, menthol and strawberry rhubarb. The finish is very dry and its rather dusty tannins are quite sticky. This old school Tempranillo would pair well with well a well marbled ribeye. Enjoy - Ken
Winemaker Notes: 100% old-vine Tempranillo from a perfectly ripe vintage this underwent malolactic fermentation and subsequent aging for two years in American oak. As with all wines from Alejandro Fernandez, the wine is unfined and unfiltered. Deeply robed, densely fruity and richly tannic with floral cedar spice and a powerful, rounded finish.
