Wine Review: This almost clear colored Auxerrois is a grape that most readers have never come across before. This version opens with a fragrant mild peach bouquet with a hint of apple. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied, slightly acidic and mouthwatering. It displays tart citrus flavors and Anjou pear with notes of minerality and white pepper peeking through. The finish is dry and its flavors linger nicely. This wine is built for seafood. I would pair it with Stuart's broiled scallops and steamed Brussels sprout dish. Enjoy - Ken
Winemaker Notes: This wine has aromas of tarragon and fennel bulb, plus green pear, mineral, and citrus blossom. In the mouth, these flavors reoccur and you'll find a lively, refreshing texture. With its balance of acid, alcohol and fruitiness, the wine has body and length on the palate, yet remains fresh. Auxerrois is wonderful on its own as an aperitif, or with many courses at the beginning of a meal. It would pair well with crab salad or cured salmon with tarragon dressing.
