Wine Review: This medium ruby colored Mencia opens with a aromatic plump craisin and strawberry licorice bouquet with a hint of triple sec. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied with medium acidity. The mouthfeel is balanced, and very smooth and silky. The flavor profile is a stewed black plum, earthy soil, and pomegranate blend. I also detected notes of craisin, tart berries, and toasted oak mixed in. The finish is dry, and its rustic flavors and medium tannins are nicely extended. This wine will appeal to reader who enjoy “Cru” level Beaujolais. I would pair this Mencia with a creamy mushroom risotto or with ham and lentil soup. Enjoy - Ken
Winemaker Notes: Mainly Mencía, that is partially aged in new French oak. Bright red berry fruit and slate on the nose is followed by balanced and soft lingering fruit and minerality. The oak serving to provide structure while remaining well in the background. Concludes with a pleasant finish.
