Wine Review: This dark red colored Mencia opens with a bit of a barnyard, matchstick and red raspberry bouquet. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied, balanced and a little savory. The flavor profile is black plum with notes of gentle minerality and cherry. I also detected hints of smoky oak on the tail end. The finish is dry and its mild tannins and fruit fade away nicely. I would pair it with Tyler Florence's ultimate Cuban sandwich. Enjoy – Ken
Winemaker Notes: 100% Mencía, partially aged in new French oak. Bright red berry fruit and slate on the nose is followed by lingering fruit and minerality, the oak serving to provide structure while remaining well in the background.
