Wine Review: This opaque and dark ruby colored Mencia from Spain opens with a mild black raspberry bouquet with a hint of old oak. On the palate, this wine is light to medium bodied, well balanced and easy to drink. The flavor profile is a mild oak infused red raspberry with hints of black currant and blueberry. The finish is dry and its mild tannins and flavors linger nicely. This is a very nice Mencia. If you have not tried this grape, this wine is a nice won to introduce you to the grape. Pair it with a pulled pork sandwich made with a root beer barbecue sauce. Enjoy - Ken
Winemaker Notes: One hundred percent Mencía, partially aged in new French oak. Bright red berry fruit and slate on the nose is followed by lingering fruit and minerality, the oak serving to provide structure while remaining well in the background.
