Wine Review: This dark ruby colored Syrah from Acorn opens with a pleasant and mild blueberry bouquet. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied, slightly acidic and savory. The flavor profile is a mineral infused black raspberry with integrated smoky oak and hints of black licorice. The finish is rather dry and its dusty tannins are nicely prolonged. This wine has an Old World spirit to it for a wine from the Russian River. Pair it with beef bourguignon. Enjoy – Ken

Winemaker Notes: Aromas of blackberry, chocolate, and a touch of licorice mingle with a subtle yet intriguing blend of black pepper, smoky oak, and new leather. The smooth entry showcases ripe blackberry and spicy mocha, which retain a prominent role front to finish. Dark roasted coffee, anise, and blueberry appear mid-palate, with a hint of orange revealed in the lingering finish. The combination of opulent fruit, creamy texture, integrated oak, and solid tannins provides a rich, balanced Syrah. If enjoyed while young, we recommend decanting for an hour or more before serving. Try pairing this wine with chipotle orange pork chops, roasted eggplant caponata, or a comforting shepherd's pie.
