Wine Review: This midnight purple colored Merlot based red blend commemorating the Kentucky Derby is a pretty good novelty wine. It opens with a mild black raspberry bouquet with a faint hint of blueberry and vanilla oak. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied, round and smooth on the palate. The flavor is a plum and blueberry blend with notes of oak and minerality and a hints espresso. The finish is dry and its mild tannins fade away nicely. While this wine is not overly complex, it will please many at your Kentucky Derby party. I would pair it with Angus beef sliders. Enjoy - Ken
Winemaker Notes: This opulent red blend showcases juicy Washington fruit character with aromas of blackberries and plums with subtle hints of chocolate and pepper. Flavors of dark berries and cocoa, supported by plush tannins, give way to a long-lasting, persistent finish. Pair with bacon-wrapped pork tenderloin or Italian cured meats and cheese.
