Wine Review: This was my favorite Domenico wine so far. It is dark ruby colored and opens with a very attractive spicy blueberry and black cherry bouquet. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied, well balanced, very juicy, and smooth. The flavor profile is a jammy blackberry with notes of Dr. Pepper and black licorice throughout. The finish is quite dry and its firm tannins linger for quite some time. Pair this wine with a messy rack of Memphis style ribs. Aglianico is usually rustic. I found this offering to be very New World in style and Very Good.
Winemaker Notes: Medium-bodied, with strong tannins. Aromas and flavors of barrel spice, blackberry, cinnamon and cherry cola. Pair with mushroom risotto, grilled leg of lamb or grilled steak. This Cali-Italia wine is one of Italy’s oldest varietals.
