Wine Review: This ruby colored wine from Merry Edwards was recommended from a flight of high end Pinots we recently reviewed. This Pinot opens with a faint red cherry and plum like bouquet with a hint of spice detected as well. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied, balanced, smooth, and very easy to drink. It displays juicy strawberry flavors with hints of light raspberry and licorice mixed in as well. The finish is quite dry and its noticeable medium tannins linger for quite some time. This wine would pair very nicely with prime rib or an herb encrusted rack of lamb. Enjoy – Ken
Winemaker Notes: Its deep ruby color reflects the blueberries, blackberries and elderberries predominant in the fragrance of this tempting Pinot. Dark and rich, the wine is laced with cassis, black raspberries and licorice. Dense and richly extracted, layers continue to unfold with intriguing complexity, revealing a touch of allspice and woodland garrigue. Firm, tarry tannins reflect a late-ripening history and predict a long life for this concentrated wine. This Pinot is a mouthful with savory dishes like Ken’s recipe for Chili Colorado served over wild rice.
