Wine Review: We recently tried this dessert wine with some panel members who embraced this different dessert wine. Why different? We don’t see too many late harvest Sauvignon Blancs. This one was a deep yellow colored wine. It opens with an aromatic peach and apricot like bouquet. On the palate, this wine is full bodied, slightly cream, with very sweet and ripe apricot and raisin like flavors. The finish is sweet and subtle. The group thought this wine would pair nicely with sliced green apples. Enjoy – Ken
Winemaker Notes: This wine is distinctively Sauvignon Blanc with amazing aromatics and additional flavors attributed to the botrytis; these aromas are bountiful and extremely complex, ranging from tropical, to citrus, peach, apricot, ginger, buttered toast, with a slight grassiness, and incredible spice. Although this wine is sweet and aromatic, a broad range of foods will pair exceptionally; there are of course the classics, such as Fois Gras, rich blue cheeses, such as Stilton and Roquefort, but also try this with some ripe tropical and citrus fruit salads, or with almond biscuits. You will be pleasantly surprised!
