Wine Review: We recently had a mini tasting of some new wines and this Merlot from Trecini was quite the buzz amongst the panel. This wine is dark candy apple red in color and opens with a very inviting plum bouquet. There were also hints of blueberry picked up by a few. On the palate, this medium bodied wine is balanced and very easy to drink. It displays very likable plum flavors with notes of cranberry and a touch of spice. The finish is quite dry, yet its moderate tannins are nicely managed and linger on for quite some time. This is a very food friendly Merlot and a crowd pleaser as well. Serve it with duck or veal parmigianna. Enjoy - Ken
Winemaker Notes: Classic Merlot aromas of cherries and plums are intert with the Cabernet Sauvignon peppercorn notes, dried herbs, cassis, blackberry and a touch of pomegranate. This rather aromatic and pretty wine will deceive the most discerning palates with its massive complexity and evolving array of flavors. Judicious use of carefully selected French and American Oak has added further layers of flavor and texture. This wine will age beautifully over the next 10 years.
