Wine Review: I love wild red blends and this mixture from Charles Creek is a terrific everyday red blend. This opaque ruby colored wine opens with an attractive black raspberry like bouquet with notes of anise as well. On the palate, this medium bodied wine is balanced, fruit forward, and easy to drink. It shows off juicy ripe black raspberry and blackberry flavors. The finish is dry and its moderate tannins are nicely prolonged. Pair this quaffable everyday wine with burgers and BBQ chicken. Enjoy – Ken
Winemaker Notes: Black fruit aromas and a hint of peppery spice are accompanied by mouthwatering raspberry and blackberry fruit in the mouth. Hints of vanilla and toasty oak bring a touch of seriousness to the endeavor, allowing some aging potential of at least 3-5 additional years. To drink tonight with any of the usual suspects, ranging from the red meats to the red sauced pastas or wild mushrooms would be a pleasure. Versatile and fun but with a serious side.
