Wine Review: Napa Cellars was a new winery for me. Their Merlot is a dark purple colored wine. It opens with a pleasant blueberry like bouquet with hints of boysenberry as well. On the palate, this medium bodied wine is smooth, soft, with ripe black cherry flavors with notes of blueberry as well. It is not very complex, but it is very easy to drink, and I really enjoyed its flavors. The finish is dry and its soft tannins linger for a little while. This is a very tasty food friendly wine that would pair well with shepherds pie or meatloaf. Enjoy - Ken
Winemaker Notes: This wine is classic Napa Valley Merlot with a deep ruby-red color, aromas of red cherry and dark chocolate with hints of black tea and vanilla spice joining the supple tannins on the palate. This wine is great on its own, but if you really want something sublime, try pairing it with Tea-smoked Asian 10-spice Duck with a redcurrant infused demi-glace reduction.
