Wine Review: Petite Sirah has a tendency to not be fruity. But this one takes on that fruit forward style. As a result, it is going to really appeal to all you Zin fans. This very dark purple wine opens with a ripe boysenberry like bouquet. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied, juicy, and jammy with very ripe boysenberry flavors. The finish is very dry with tannins that are quite prolonged. Pair this wine with Memphis styled barbecue ribs. Enjoy – Ken
Winemaker Notes: As seen with other varietals the 2005 Vintage produced wines with great depth of flavor and color. The Petite Sirah was no different. Even though Petite Sirah is never lacking in color, it shows a richness of dark jammy fruit that is balanced well with the grape’s tannins. With such great fruit and tannin balance, lighter effecting barrels were used to help soften without overpowering for a great everyday drinking wine. Blueberry pie explodes in the mouth fulfilling the expectation from the aromas, with hints of raspberries and cherries. The fruit continues into the finish with medium tannin staying on the palate till the next sip.
