Wine Review: As many readers know, I tend to prefer an elegant style of Pinot. This gem from Gary Farrell perfectly matches most of my preferences. This very light red offering opens with an attractive spicy berry like bouquet. On the palate, this impressive wine is medium bodied, elegantly balanced, silky smooth, with absolutely delicious black raspberry like flavors with hints of spice and black current. The finish is dry and fades away nicely. This wine would greatly enhance grilled salmon. Enjoy – Ken
Winemaker Notes: This 2005 Starr Ridge Pinot Noir displays beautiful dark ruby color with aromas and succulent flavors of black cherry and blackberry with hints of cedar and rose. The dense fruit is braced with firm tannins and seasoned with vanilla and toast oak notes. Enjoy this very sophisticated, intriguing Pinot Noir over the next decade as the flavors continue to evolve. This wine pairs beautifully with braised lamb shank and polenta.
