Wine Review: This opaque dark ruby wine is big and young. It has a very long and pleasing life ahead of it. It opens with a black pepper and spicy raspberry like bouquet. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied, initially very smooth, with plenty of building acidity once on the palate for a while. The flavor profile is spicy black cherry with notes of black current and black pepper. The finish is quite dry and noticeable puckery tannins are present for a very long time. Decant this wine and serve it with Memphis styled barbecue ribs or jambalaya. Cheers – Ken
Winemaker Notes: Normally more fruit-forward than its sibling Tinto Pesquera, 2005 produced an extremely rich wine, with a healthy dose of firm tannins. Ripe yet closed, will need a year or two to open in bottle. An excellent, ageworthy vintage.
