Wine Review: In all the years I have been covering Four Vines, I think this years vintage is my favorite Maverick! Christian has tamed the terroir in this gem. This opaque dark ruby red wine opens with a clove and raspberry like bouquet. On the palate, this wine truly reflects the Amador County terroir. It’s a Zin lovers, Zin. It is balanced, smooth, with loads of lush fruit flavors. Those flavors are ripe raspberry and red currant flavors with some spicy note as well. The finish is quite dry, with soft tannins that tingle as they go on and on forever it seems. This flavorful Zin would pair nicely with meatloaf or duck. Enjoy - Ken
Winemaker Notes: The 100-plus-year old vines of the original Grandpere Vineyard, along with the 40 year old vines of The Deaver and Linstead Vineyards produce a wine that is chewy and spicy, rich with blackberry fruit and a hint of velvet vanilla oak. Blended with a touch of Syrah from the Bailey Vineyard. Maverick…The Jam Bomb...mischievous fun!
