Wine Review: This was a new winery for me. I had heard a lot of good things. So at a recent client dinner, we thought it would be time to give them a try. I was a good decision. This very dark purple wine opens with a light blackberry bouquet with a touch of oak. On the palate, this wine is very very smooth, elegant, with dusty black cherry and spicy blueberry flavors with a touch of oak. The finish is dry, tingly, and lingers for quite some time. This very food friendly Syrah is would pair nicely with prime rib. Enjoy – Ken
Winemaker Notes: Sporting a profile reminiscent of Croze-Hermitage, the nose features white pepper, black olive, cured meat, dried fruit compote, ruby red grapefruit, granite, brown spice and Cyprus resin aromas with some violet overtones. Focused, sappy fruit and dark minerals drive the fleshy midpalate before giving way to a silky, refreshingly bright, perfumed finish. The most layered and age worthy Las Colinas to date – a sleeper. Drink through at least 2012.
