Wine Review: The nose of this deep purple wine is that of mild blackberries. On the palate, the wine is round and smooth as silk. It has very nice flavors, is well balnced, and shows very well. A nice food wine for a rich dinner. The finish is lenghty and the tannins dry out your mouth. Enjoy – Ken
Winemaker Notes: "Home Ranch is one of those special sites where the convergence of soil and climatic conditions interact to create wines of complexity and regional distinctiveness. Warm, sunny days provided the heat needed for color and flavor development. The shallow, non-fertile, clay soils slow the vigor of vine growth, producing smaller-berried clusters complete with vibrant dark-fruit qualities, mineral spiciness and extraordinary richness. Harvesting concentrated, evenly ripened fruit is fundamental, and requires constant diligence in the vineyard. Equally important is the development of ripe tannins, so that, during fermentation, tannin extraction integrates an underlying smoothness that leaves a lasting impression. 2004 is yet another outstanding vintage – I believe we are on to something! Salute!" --Ted Seghesio
