Wine Review: I really liked the 2004 vintage version of this wine, so I was looking forward to the 2005 vintage. Although, not as good as the 2004, this wine is a Very Good representation of Pinotage. This dark ruby wine opens with a classic smoky and oaky bouquet. On the palate, this medium bodied wine is a fruit forward wood soaked wine with spicy black cherry flavors. It is round, slightly acidic, rustic, with nice palate presence. The finish is dry, still has a touch of acidity, and noticeable spicy tannins that hang on for some time. This is a fine representative of Pinotage and would pair perfectly with a juicy gourmet burger on medium well with smoked Gouda cheese. Enjoy – Ken
Winemaker Notes: This benchmark South African Pinotage is a true Cape Classic! Alluringly complex and distinctive, it boasts juicy layers of dark berries, ripe banana and cassis intertwined with smoky, minerally undercurrents.
