Wine Review: This wine opens up like a port wine on the nose. On the palate, this full bodied, full throttle wine is smooth as silk and very concentrated with delightful spicy raisin and prune like flavors. This wine would be a perfect after dinner wine. The finish is ultra dry and has lasting tannins. Enjoy - Ken
Winemaker Notes: If you like Zinfandel, you will love this robust red. Primitivo is a genetic relative of Zinfandel, with a more robust character. Primitivo is an Italian varietal. It was known among California growers as the most intensely flavored Zinfandel clone. It has smaller berries and more uniform clusters than Zinfandel—some have characterized it as “Zinfandel stepping on the gas”. Genetic research conducted has shown that the Primitivo and Zinfandel share the same genetic history from Croatia and traveled from there to the U.S. and Italy in the first half of the 19th century. Like Zinfandel, Primitivo is robust, fruity and sometimes spicy!
