Wine Review: Benoît Gautier was recently in Boston as the primary presenter at a recent Vouvray tasting that I attended. I really enjoyed his demi-sec offering that was presented. This light yellow wine opens with a pleasant ripe Bartlett pear like bouquet. On the palate, this medium bodied wine is balanced, creamy, slightly sweet, very enjoyable fruity lemon lime like flavors. The finish is refreshing, but brief. This wine would complement swordfish well. Enjoy – Ken
Winemaker Notes: The Vouvray De Gautier is winemaker Benoit Gautier’s selection from the vintage. It bursts with ripe and concentrated Chenin Blanc fruit. The gentle acidity is balanced with apricot, pear, and honey notes and a just off-dry finish. It is outstanding as an aperitif, with fowl and fish dishes, and with Asian or Indian cuisine.
