Wine Review: Gavi is an underdog in the world of Italian White Whites, but I have found that it is a really good and flavorful food wine similar to Spanish Alberiño. This very light yellow offering from Principessa Gavia is a fine expression of the Cortese grape. This wine opens with a very pleasant citrus like bouquet. On the palate, this light bodied wine is nicely balanced and integrated between its fruit and acidity. I was also impressed with the viscosity of the wine. For taste, the wine displays tasty citrus like flavors with light lemon and mineral notes breaking thru. The finish is dry and very refreshing. I really liked this wine and think you will find that it will really dress up some food dishes that need some additional flavor like broiled scallops or sole. Finally, this wine is a real bargain for only $14 per bottle. Enjoy - Ken
Winemaker Notes: Color: Pale-straw. Bouquet: Intense, fresh, with aromas of pineapple and green apple. Taste: Crisp with green-apple and citrus flavors complemented by mineral notes.
