Wine Review: Having the opportunity to review this wine at the NY Wine Expo was a real treat. As you know we have really enjoyed Carol’s Zins in the past, but this option from Rockpile is a real delight. This very dark ruby wine opens with a very aromatic spicy blackberry bouquet. On the palate, this full bodied big boy is rich, concentrated, and displays intense blackberry flavors with notes of licorice and spice. The finish is quite dry, and has noticeable moderate tannins that linger for some time. This is one of the richest 2005 Zins that I have tried this year. I highly recommend that you get your hands on a bottle of this gem soon and savor it with some hearty comfort food. Enjoy – Ken
Winemaker Notes: Inky blue-purple in color, moderate black pepper spice on deep blue-blackberry fruit, whisper of green herbs and smoky oak. Cedary oak spice, very dark chocolate, structured tannins for aging.
