Wine Review: I had a chance to try this wine at Wine Week at Smith & Wollensky in Boston. This was my favorite wine offered. The beauty of this wine is the Cab adds some structure to the soft 2005 Zin. As a result this dark ruby red wine stands out. It opens with a very pleasant cherry like bouquet. On the palate, this medium bodied wine is smooth, silky, and shows concentrated sweet black cherry flavors with a hint of oak. The finish is quite dry and has soft tannins that are nicely prolonged. This wine is very food friendly and paired nicely with my filet mignon. Enjoy - Ken
Winemaker Notes: The aroma explodes with ripe fruit—strawberry, boysenberry, and plum, complemented by hints of violets, spice, and orange peel. This wine is medium-bodied with a chewy texture, robust yet approachable tannins, and a firm, lengthy finish. Ripe flavors of raspberry, red cherry, and boysenberry are balanced by complex notes of dark chocolate, espresso bean, and black licorice.
