Wine Review: We recently got together to blind taste and review some High End wines. This offering from L’Aventure was well received by the tasting panel. This dark purple wine opens with a very pleasant black current bouquet with hints of pine and earthiness. On the palate this medium to full bodied wine is smooth, has nice palate coverage, and has noticeable fruit forward black cherry fruit and hints of pepper. The finish is dry, a touch acidic, quite tingly, a bit tannic now and has medium length. The panel thought this wine would pair nicely with stuffed mushrooms, pulled pork, or rosemary lamb kabobs. This wine was one of the younger wines we tried and the panel felt that with some cellar time and integration this wine could excel even more down the road. Enjoy - Ken
Winemaker Notes: This wine is deep ruby, from center to edge, with the classic Optimus nose of cassis, blueberry and cola. Broad flavors on the pallate of tar, dark berries and licorice, with a long delicious finish. This Optimus is incredibly complex and elegant and will drink well for the next 10 years.
