Wine Review: This is one of the most enjoyable Malbecs that I have had in the last year. This very dark purple wine opens with a very aromatic black current like bouquet. On the palate, this medium bodied wine is very smooth, suave, well balanced, and displays tasty plum like flavors with hints of boysenberry. The finish is dry, has a touch of acidity and has some good length to it. This very enjoyable wine is a terrific food wine that would pair nicely with barbeque ribs or chicken. Enjoy - Ken
Winemaker Notes: The 2005 Catena Malbec presents an dark, opaque purple color. This microclimate blend of four unique vineyard sites offers intense aromatics with rich, concentrated flavors, and a soft generous texture. The Angelica vineyard lends ripe plum and chocolate flavors with a very soft, supple mouthfeel. The La Piramide vineyard offers blackberry fruit with a slight earthy tone and notes of spicy black pepper. The Altamira vineyard brings a core of black currant and cassis, with excellent structure and length. And the Adrianna vineyard lends exceptional concentration with explosive floral aromatics. Together they make complex blend of aromas and flavors, a wine with excellent concentration, balance and freshness. José Galante, Winemaker
