Wine Review: Foppiano is one of the pioneer producers of Petite Sirah. The 2004 is a nice example of what can be done with the grape at a reasonable price point. This extremely dark purple wine opens is a minty and eucalyptus like bouquet in front of some dark berries. On the palate, this medium bodied wine is round, dry, not complex, easy to drink, and displays dusty blackberry flavors. The finish is quite dry, has fine tannins, but is a bit brief. This wine would pair nicely with a burger smothered with sautéed mushrooms, onions, & provolone. Enjoy - Ken
Winemaker Notes: The 2004 Foppiano Vineyards Estate Petite Sirah was made entirely from estate Petite Sirah grapes, grown on the family’s Russian River Valley Estate. The Pet is full-bodied and deeply colored. In the nose, the Petite offers black fruit aromas, which are well met on the palate with blackberry and blueberry flavors, as well as toasty vanilla, exotic spices, and hints of cocoa on the finish.
