Wine Review: In a side by side tasting, I preferred the 2005 over the 2004 "Heinrich". This dark purple colored wine opens with a spicy black fruit bouquet. On the palate, this medium bodied wine is round, and displays terrific juicy and spicy licorice like flavors with hints of black cherry. The finish is dry and lingers for a while. This wine would match perfectly with a nice steak with a brown mushroom sauce. Enjoy – Ken
Winemaker Notes: Named after the founder and father of Christa and Rolf Binder, because of his love for the Shiraz, Mataro, Grenache blend. The Heinrich comprises 55% Shiraz, 30% Mataro, and 15% Grenache. The Heinrich Shiraz is off the gravely loam and red brown earth vineyards of Veritas and from the growers Hearnden and Kalleske. The Mataro is from century-old vines estate grown solely on sand. The Grenache coming from the Western Ridge Vineyard sandy loam, and the grower Hearnden’s bush vines.
