Wine Review: This was our table’s favorite wine from the Wakefield portfolio dinner that we recently attended at the Wayside Inn in Sudbury, MA. This dark purple wine opens with a light black current bouquet. On the palate, this wine is round, mouthwatering, juicy, and has fruit forward menthol and black current flavors with hints of cassis. The finish is dry and lingers on for quite a while. The wine paired nicely with our roast tenderloin of beef. Enjoy – Ken
Winemaker Notes: Deep red with a purple hue. This colour will develop into more classic brick red tones with age. The aromas are undeniably varietal Cabernet Sauvignon. Cinnamon, spice, cloves and chocolate abound with sweet juicy black berry fruit. Complex, slightly savory elements are also present with rich cassis intertwine with tobacco and cedar from maturation in French oak. This is a wine of considerable generosity. The palate has abundant sweet fruit, which is juicy and full in character suggesting a vintage of substantial quality. The classic hallmarks of Cabernet Sauvignon characters are evident - ripe berry fruit, cassis, perfume, cinnamon, spice and tobacco along with fine-grained tannins.
