Wine Review: I recently had this wine at a restaurant in the North End that was serving it a $14 per glass. Kudos to the restaurant for serving Very Good wine by the glass. However Chardonnay, more than any other grape needs to be served at the right temperature. This wine performed much better when it was warmed up to the correct temperature. This golden yellow wine has a prominent citrus like bouquet with a hint anise. On the palate, the wine is medium bodied, creamy, a touch acidic, and fairly well balanced. It has intensely concentrated apple like flavors and definite hints of oak. The finish is dry, refreshing, and lingers a bit. Enjoy - Ken
Winemaker Notes: Our 2005 Napa Valley Chardonnay displays fresh, forward, ripe Granny Smith apple, pear and melon fruit accented by mineral, subtle yeast and warm oak spice tones. Full and lush on the palate, with a mouth-filling texture, its multi-layered apple and pear flavors are enriched by subtle yeast and toasty oak tones that extend into a very long finish. Youthfully compact, with superb structure and an ideal balance of fresh fruit, acid and wood tones, this superb Napa Valley Chardonnay will develop beautifully in the bottle for another 3 to 5 years.
