Wine Review: This is a terrific wine that I am sure most of you have never heard of that is flying under the radar. Prieto Picudo is a new grape for me. It has many of the same characteristics of Zinfandel. This dark red wine opens with a pleasant blackberry and cherry bouquet. On the palate, this wine is very smooth, has quite fruit forward flavors, and is very easy to drink. This tasty wine will go real well with spaghetti and meatballs or chicken parmigiana. The finish is dry and slightly prolonged. This wine is a real nice wine for the price. Enjoy- Ken
Winemaker Notes: One hundred percent Prieto Picudo from old vines. Aged six months in French and American barriques, featuring the intense wild berry notes of the varietal, mouthwatering acidity and lingering, floral/fruity finish. Seeking comparisons, one might think of top Barbera from Piemonte.
