Wine Review: Petite Sirah is a very tough grape to tame, but when done right it can become a wonderfully exciting and delicious wine. The folks from Clayhouse have done a terrific job with this Petite Sirah. It is not easy to make a food friendly Petite Sirah, but they have done it and I am impressed. This wine is an inky purple colored wine. This wine has a delightful dark berry fruit bouquet. On the palate, this wine is extremely approachable and well balanced for a petite sirah. It has jammy berry fruit flavors with a hint of licorice on the mid palate. The finish is nicely dry and has some length. This wine is calling out for a nice thick NY Sirloin grilled in butter sauce. Enjoy this wine, I did. – Ken
Winemaker Notes: Our Petite Sirah comes from some of the oldest plantings in the region. The wine has full tannins, rich dark fruit of black plums with spice flavors of black pepper, brown sugar and vanilla, and a long lingering full flavored finish.
