Wine Review: This rich purple wine opens with a very fragrant and inviting bouquet. On the palate this wine is very flavorful and has some complexity to it. It is acidic and dry. However, it is not very tannic and should be consumed soon. The wine would be a fine complement to a nice steak dinner or any other hearty meal. I’m thinking beef stew. Enjoy – Ken
Winemaker Notes: The 2001 Robert Craig Affinity is a wonderfully rich and powerful blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Cabernet Franc from premier Napa Valley vineyards. Forward bouquet of black fruit and rich cherry, interlaced with mocha, sweet herbs (sage), toffee & spice. Offers the promise of deep fruit and further complexity. Flavors: Central core of powerful and concentrated fruit, spreading over the palate to reveal layers of ripe blackcherry, currant, anise, and coffee. Finish: Delicious, long finish continues to reveal deep, mixed dark fruit and subtle oak. A complete wine – big and rich with a balance of power and finesse and a smooth, silky texture. Surprisingly integrated for a young wine.
