Wine Review: Here is a great value wine from J. Lohr that I recently came across at a Paso Robles tasting. This black cherry colored red wine has a pleasant blueberry bouquet. On the palate, this wine is round, has tasty fruit flavors and is a bit dry. This wine would be great at your next barbeque and will be a good crowd pleaser. The finish is also dry. Enjoy - Ken
Winemaker Notes: The 2005 J. Lohr Estates Los Osos Merlot has a dark red color with purple hues and good density. The aroma is dominated by fresh blueberry and boysenberry fruit and layered with lifted spicy oak. The palate is greeted by an array of red fruits similar to those on the nose, with some cherry fruit thrown in for good measure. The wine has a full mid-palate and a firm finish that carries the wine through with a lingering hint of fruits and licorice spice. This wine would be ideal with barbeque meats and ribs dressed with your favorite sauce. Enjoy now or within ten years.
