Wine Review: This bright red ruby wine was clearly my favorite wine at a recent Darioush dinner that I attended at Grill 23 in Boston. The bouquet of this wine is a bit reserved, but you can sense the flavors to come. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied, nicely balanced, and elegant. The finish is quite dry and extends for quite some time. This is a terrific food wine that will enhance a nice steak. Enjoy, I did. Ken
Winemaker Notes: The 2002 vintage is superb. The cool, consistent growing season provided extended hang-time and even ripening, resulting in more concentration and highly developed flavors. Enticing aromas of wild berries and flavors of crème de cassis, espresso and bittersweet chocolate tantalize the palate and are complemented by cedar-spice and sweet vanillin notes. Velvety tannins add graceful support to the wine’s supple richness and concentration. Best served decanted in its youth, it will age wonderfully until 2015.
