Wine Review: This golden straw-colored Chardonnay from Chalk Hill opens with fragrant apple and lemon bouquet with hints of oak. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied with medium acidity. The mouthfeel is balanced, bright and refreshing for a Chard. The flavor profile is an oak influenced baked red apple with notes chalky minerality and vanilla cream. I also detected some hints of pineapple and a touch of lemon zest. The finish is dry, and its acidity and flavors are very nicely extended. This Chard would pair nicely with pan-fried rainbow trout with a lemon butter sauce. Enjoy – Ken
Winemaker Notes: Lemon pie and custard aromas mix with exotic quince and layers of creamy oak in our 2019 Chalk Hill Chardonnay. Bright green apple and a citrusy lemon kick balance out the smooth oak tones. The creamy mouthfeel leads to a bright finish of grapefruit zest and hints of tart apple. Enjoy this now with soft cheeses or simply with good company.
