Wine Review: This deep ruby colored Cabernet Sauvignon from Rodney Strong opens with a ripe black plum and mild oak bouquet with hints of blackberry. On the palate, this wine is medium plus bodied, balanced, smooth, warm and welcoming. The flavor profile is an oak influenced ripe black plum with notes of vanilla and black currant. We also detected hints of nutmeg, coffee and black pepper mixed in. The finish is dry and its fine-grained tannins faded away nicely. This Cab definitely improved with some aeration. So, decant it in the near term and it would pair well with many foods. We would suggest it with chargrilled lamb kabobs, braised short ribs or a coffee-rubbed top sirloin. Enjoy – KWGTP
Winemaker Notes: Rich, lush and structured, the 2016 vintage displays intense aromas of black currant, cassis and crushed violet. This wine is velvety with a smooth, lingering finish of herbal notes, vanilla and cocoa. Enjoy this wine now with a grilled porter house, rack of lamb, and a winter vegetable roast or lay a few bottles down in your cellar to enjoy in 4 to 6 years.
