Wine Review: This midnight purple colored Merlot from Bob Foley opens with a black raspberry and raisin bread bouquet with hints of warm toasted almonds. On the palate, this wine is medium plus bodied with plus acidity. We also found it to be dynamic and rich. The flavor profile is sugar plum and boysenberry blend with notes of blueberry and oak. We also detected hints of amaretto, fig, and mocha. On the finish its bold flavors and polished sultry tannins go on and on and last for quite a very long time. The Panel would enjoy this Excellent Merlot on its own with a Cuban cigar. With food the Panel would pair this Merlot with chocolate mousse. Enjoy – KWGTP
Winemaker Notes: Deep and dark in color, this 100% Merlot combines the structure of Howell Mountain fruit with the softness of the lower elevation Calistoga vineyard. A gush of cherry candy flavors floods the mid palate with a deliciously rich texture. Gentle tannins coat the mouth and resolve with well-balanced acidity in the long mouthwatering finish. This is a Merlot for Cabernet lovers.
