Wine Review: This medium ruby colored Merlot from the Finger Lakes is very good! It opens with a boysenberry and chocolate bouquet with hints of earthy truffle and clay pot. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied, balanced, smooth and easy to drink. The flavor profile is tasty black cherry and fruit cake blend with notes of cedar. We also detected hints of sage, light chocolate and a touch of strawberry at the very end. The finish is dry and its fruit flavors and mild tannins fade away nicely. This “Cream Label” Merlot is very food friendly and a very good value. We would pair it with your favorite pizza, a Point Reyes Blue cheeseburger off the grill or a baby bella mushroom and gorgonzola frittata. Enjoy – Ken & Joe
