Wine Review: The 2007 vintage in the Finger Lakes was a good one for red wines. This dark ruby colored Cab Franc from Red Newt is a Very Good one. It opens with a cherry vanilla bouquet with a hint of oak. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied, balanced, and very approachable. The flavor profile is a tasty cherry vanilla with a touch of toasty oak. The finish is rather dry and its dusty and tingly tannins show nice length. I would pair this very nice Cab Franc with Theresa's meatloaf. Enjoy - Ken
Winemaker Notes: This Cabernet Franc is quintessentially Finger Lakes showing counterpoints of delicate and forward, fruity and complex, firm and ethereal. Cranberry and raspberry characters with overtones of smoke and spice make an elegant red that shows well young and ages beautifully. Enjoy with seared duck breast in a garlic-cherry relish.
