Wine Review: This dark ruby colored Barolo opens with a fragrant and bold black raspberry and anise bouquet with hints of oak and spice. On the palate, this wine is full bodied and balanced. It shows a dry presence in the mouth, yet it shows harmonious acidity that keeps it alive on the palate. The flavor profile is a mild oak and black cherry blend with notes of anise on back palate. The finish is quite dry and its dusty and prominent tannins grow rapidly, then dissipate nicely after you swallow. This is a very substantial red wine. You should decant it for a while if you plan to drink it in the near term. It really smooths out with time and air. Serve it with a well marbled ribeye. Enjoy - Ken
