Wine Review: This dark red colored Reserve level Cabernet Sauvignon from Fortress was well received by the Tasting Panel. It opens with red currant and strawberry like bouquet with hints of black cherry and chocolate. On the palate, this wine is full bodied, nicely balanced and smooth. The flavor profile is a tasty black currant and black cherry blend with notes of gentle oak and nicely integrated firm minerality and some tannin. We also detected hints of dark chocolate mixed in as well. The finish is dry and its big tannins build up and stick around for quite a while. The Panel suggested decanting this wine, as it settled nicely with some air and time. That said, the Panel would still pair it with a cowboy ribeye. Enjoy - KWGTP
Winemaker Notes: This inaugural vintage of Fortress Knights Valley Reserve is an expressive wine, opening with aromas of espresso, blackberry, and baking spice. The palate is broad and supple, exhibiting flavors of mocha, forest fruits, and vanilla bean. The tannins are rich and well integrated creating a silky mouthfeel with a lingering finish.
