Wine Review: This medium purple colored Syrah is well-made and very Old World in style. It opens with a strong leather, graphite and blackberry bouquet with hints of cedar, boysenberry, jasmine. On the palate, this wine is medium plus bodied with medium acidity. We also found it to be savory. The flavor profile is a cedar influenced stewed red plum and cinnamon blend with notes of red licorice, red cherry and black pepper. The finish is dry and its flavors and moderate smooth tannins are nicely prolonged. This Syrah will not be in everyone’s wheelhouse. But those who do like this flavor profile are going to like it a lot. We would pair this Syrah with a Colorado lamb chop or a stuffed veal roast. Enjoy – Ken
Winemaker Notes: This bottling displays plenty of smoke, cedar and vanilla in evidence, showing a bit more substance beneath that oaky veneer. With cherry fruit and hints of spice on the full-bodied palate, the 1955 results in a long, mouthwatering finish and supple tannins.
