Wine Review: This dark ruby colored offering from Spice Route is a Very Good introduction into Pinotage and the stylistic approach of most South African red wines. This wine opens with the classic smoky oak and light cherry like bouquet. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied, balanced, and juicy. The flavor profile is an oak infused black cherry. The finish is dry and it’s very noticeable tannins are a little puckery and quite prolonged. This rustic styled wine will appeal to Old World fans. You can pair it with a nice hearty beef stew. Enjoy - Ken
Winemaker Notes: Perfumed plum aromas with subtle oak and spice notes. The palate is medium bodied to full bodied, with rich, blackberry fruit flavours. Aromas follow through to full lingering finish. Tannin and fruit are in good balance and the wine shows characteristic Swartland style.
