Wine Review: Opolo is known for making wines that stand out. The 2004 Syrah is no exception. This opaque reddish purple wine opens with a very complex and interesting nose that includes scents of mild blackberry, nuts, and coffee. On the palate, this wine is full bodied, smooth, and it has nice palate coverage. It has a dusty mouthfeel and displays black cherry flavors with coffee influences and hints of raspberry. As I said, this wine has a lot going on. The finish is quite dry, has fine tannins, shows a little acidity, and lingers for quite some time. Enjoy it, we did – Ken
Winemaker Notes: The nose to this wine is layered with ripe black cherry, leather, and smoke. The mouth feel is full bodied expanding the impact of the fruit from the wine which is foiled nicely by oak and vanilla. The finish is lenghty and the velvety lush tannins will leave your mouth craving for more.
