Wine Review: I walked away from Long Island this fall, firmly believing that Chardonnay has surpassed Merlot as the grape of choice. This wine is one of many that helped for that opinion. This barrel fermented wine opens with a bouquet that is nice and expressive. The wine is flavorful and creamy on the palate. The finish is pleasing, pleasant, and lasting. Another very good Chardonnay from Long Island. Enjoy – Ken
Winemaker Notes: The 2004 Cox Lane Chardonnay, pale straw in color, is a concentrated but restrained wine, more like California. With aromas of citrus peel and marshmallow, carmel and minerals and melon on the pallet, the wine is bright and balanced. Over a third of the wine was fermented in tank, and the rest is fermented 1 to 2 year old barrels.
