Cedric the EntertainerOn Wednesday, August 14, 2024, we interviewed Cedric the Entertainer and Ian Devereux White. Cedric is an Entertainer known for his stand-up comedy; he also stars on the CBS sitcom “The Neighborhood.Ian Devereux White is the co-founder and vintner for the boutique winery Smith Devereux. We covered two new-release red blends made by Smith Devereux for Cedric’s “Setta” label. Back in the spring, we covered the 2022 “Setta” Sauvignon Blanc as well. Check out what we learned about the Cedric, the Setta wine project, and his working relationship with Ian Devereux White.

Before we get to the wines, I thought I would share some tidbits that Cedric and Ian shared.

  • How did you get into wine? It was at a steak dinner and he ordered a bottle of a Napa Valley wine that blew him away.
  • How did you meet Ian? Thru a mutual friend.
  • Talk about the Setta Wine project. The “Setta” wine name is a tribute to Cedric’s mom, Rosetta, a reading specialist in St. Louis, Missouri, for more than 30 years. As a give-back, at least 10%, if not more, of all profits from sales of this wine will be donated to Red Rose Reads Foundation to support literacy programs.
  • Cedric also offers some barbecue products via AC Barbecue. We bought both sauce bottles and enjoyed them on some ribs. Both were very good. I liked the “All Day” the best for ribs. Cedric likes the “Gold” with fish. Check them out!
  • Cedric’s family was involved in the label design.
  • Ian learned a lot about wine making in Italy. “Mainly to get out of the way of the process.”
