Wine Review: This pitch black colored Zinfandel opens with a fragrant blackberry bouquet with hints of black licorice and red currant. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied, slightly acidic and very fruit forward. The flavor profile is a ripe blackberry with notes of minerality and mulberry. I also detected hints of mild old oak and a touch of cranberry. The finish is dry and its fruit flavors and mild tannins are very nicely prolonged. This tasty fruit bomb will pair well with grilled barbecue chicken breasts or by the fire pit this summer with sharp cheddar cheese. Enjoy - Ken

Winemaker Notes: The 2013 Belloni Vineyard Zinfandel displays dried flowers and perfume with nice spice and incredible fruit. It has good weight and lively acid.

Cork Lore: A cork tree must be at least 25 years old before its bark can be harvested the first time, but it cannot be used for wine stoppers until the third harvest. Cork trees can be stripped of their bark no more than every 9 to 12 years. In one harvest, enough cork is removed from the average tree to make 4,000 wine stoppers.
