Wine Review: This opaque and very dark maroon colored Sangiovese opens with a unique butterscotch and Maraschino cherry like bouquet. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied, slightly acidic and juicy. The flavor profile a black cherry and sweet plum blend with notes of mild oak and blueberry mixed in. I also detected a hint of cranberry towards the end. The finish is dry and its moderate tannins are well-managed. This Brunello is food friendly and would pair nicely with Emeril's beef, pork, and veal lasagna. Enjoy - Ken

Winemaker Notes: An intense ruby red in colour, the wine expresses itself through clearly defined aromas of raspberry and pomegranate, which are further enriched by elegant floral notes. In the mouth, the CastelGiocondo Brunello 2012 is harmonious and well-defined wine with elegant tannins and a sapid and mineral persistence. Serve with beef stews, braised meats and aged cheeses.
